The Carrollwood Community began in the late 1960’s with the development of Original Carrollwood by Matt Jetton.
Soon Carrollwood Village and other communities were developed around Original Carrollwood and the community began to see rapid growth
In 1984 Dale Mabry Highway, the main road in to the Carrollwood Area, was expanded to three lanes and ended at Bearss Avenue. This area of North Tampa became its own metropolis with new people moving to the area daily and new business sprouting up almost day-to-day.
In 1986, John Baumann, a local Certified Public Accountant, and Dr. Barry Shapiro, formed Carrollwood Area Business Association, also known as CABA, to help area business achieve success through professional partnerships. The group became an integral part of the Carrollwood community and attracted new members daily.
The Carrollwood Area Business Association continually pursued the concept of businesses helping businesses but also promoted the “Carrollwood” community as a whole. The group helped make events like the Holiday Tree Lighting and the Balloon Fest at Lake Park a huge success. And to this day CABA still supports community events like volunteering with Principal for a Day, Jr. Achievement, the Great American Teach In; participating in Village Fest, Tour de Village, Northdale Family Fun Fest, and the Annual Independence Day Networking Festival; is active in other organization such as Kiwanis, CCBA, other chambers and networking groups; and has given away over $10K in scholarships and grants to local schools, teachers, and graduating seniors.
CABA can proudly boast there are over 350 and new members are joining daily. For more information on The Carrollwood Area Business Association Inc. ((CABA)) or the 25th Anniversary Celebration please log on to their website at www.usecaba.com.
