March 2018, Tampa FL - The accumulated wisdom of regional gardeners will be shared in Tampa Friday and Saturday, April 6 & 7 during a conference on providing healthy food to people in our communities through growing community gardens.
The dates: Friday, April 6, and Saturday, April 7, 2018, at the Tampa Heights Youth Development & Community Center, 2005 North Lamar Avenue, Tampa.
Grow Community Gardens - Tampa Bay is the first conference in Tampa inviting all those interested in learning about healthier living and healthy choices through gardening. There will be Information about starting a community garden, the impact that community gardening has on the health of the community and using sustainable methods to produce fresh produce locally. Garden leaders and public officials will present information.
Sponsored by Garden Steps and the Sustany Foundation, the event focuses on bringing together the accumulated wisdom of regional gardeners on all aspects of health, wellness, and sustainable living. Anyone interested in learning about healthier living and healthy choices through gardening is invited to attend.
There is no charge for the reception on Friday, April 6th, 6:30 to 8:00. All interested people are invited to meet the presenters. Light refreshments will be served.
The cost for the Saturday conference attendance is $10. The conference runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This includes the keynote speech by Joseph W. Dorsey, Ph.D., USF Patel College of Global Sustainability, and lunch provided by Inside the Box Catering.
