The Dunedin Music Society (DMS) brings together hundreds of singers and instrumentalists for a free Holiday Spectacular concert at the Palladium at St. Petersburg College.
Over 250 performers will sing, dance, and play in a celebration of Christmas Music in this years “Holiday Spectacular” at St. Petersburg’s Palladium Theater Monday, December 11 beginning with a pre-show at 7:00PM.
Included are the Palm Harbor United Methodist Church Choir directed by Mark Deen, the Suncoast Singers directed by Rob Knabel, the Bay Voices directed by Steve Allen, and the combined choirs of Pasadena Community Church and the Tarpon Springs United Methodist Church directed by brothers Bob & Tom Drick.
The 82-piece Second Winds Wind Ensemble directed by Bill Findeison will anchor this musical lineup. The Second Winds consists of hand-picked, invited performers from the area’s multiple instrumental groups including the St. Petersburg Community Band, the Dunedin Concert Band, the Second Time Arounders Marching Band, and others.
The “Holiday Spectacular” will feature each individual performing group as well as, a grand finale of favorite Christmas songs in a combined presentation, ending with the Hallelujah Chorus, when everyone is invited to join in! “Collaboration among our communities throughout Pinellas County is one of the most exciting aspects of the Arts scene in Tampa Bay,” says Stephen P. Brown, General Director of the Dunedin Music Society. “So many different people get to participate in live music as both listeners and performers.”
Event Coordinator and DMS Vice-Chairman Lee Lafleur said, “We are thrilled so many community members support live music enough that this event can continue to be a local tradition residents, visitors and businesses are proud of. I’m happy the DMS can provide such spectacular opportunities for audiences and performers alike.”
With participants coming from so many corners of the County, general unreserved audience seating is bound to fill up fast, especially as the event is free! A suggested donation of $10 per person would be greatly appreciated by the Dunedin Music Society to help offset the costs to ensure presentations like the “Holiday Spectacular” continue in the future. These contributions are fully tax deductible to the extent permitted by the law.
For several years the Island Chapel Singers of Tiera Verde and the Second Winds Wind Ensemble partnered at the Palladium and the Mahaffey to present a high quality holiday celebration. This year, the spirit of this event returns to the Palladium with the Dunedin Music Society producing.
