11th ANNUAL NATIONAL HERB DAY CELEBRATION IN ST. PETERSBURG
On Saturday, May 7th from 10 AM to 4PM, herbalists and lovers of herbal medicines will celebrate the importance of plants in health with Herb Day 2016. The free celebration will be held in St. Petersburg and hosted by Acupuncture & Herbal Therapies and St. Petersburg Health & Wellness located at 222 2nd Street North.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be lectures, free herb and food tasting, Kava Kava, local herb plants for sale and numerous vendors related to herbs. Many vendors will be lecturing about the uses of herbs in health and well-being. According to Bob Linde, Registered Herbalist, “This is one of my favorite days of the year. We get to meet with hundreds of like-minded local people to create a stronger herbal community.” Anyone interested in learning more about herbs, herbal medicine and herbal safety should attend.
Herb Day was created and organized by the Herb Day Coalition, a national group of non-profit herbal organizations dedicated to herbal education, research, quality control, plant preservation, and the responsible use of herbs in human health. The day will consist of local herbal events that will take place throughout the nation.
The St. Petersburg event will be held May 7th from 10 AM to 4 PM and is a collaboration with the Florida Herb Society, the West Coast Chapter of the American Herbalists Guild, Willow Herbal Delight Gardens and the Traditions School of Herbal Studies. There will be raffle drawings throughout the day to benefit Florida Herb Society and the West Coast Chapter of the American Herbalist Guild.
The event will be at Acupuncture & Herbal Therapies and St. Petersburg Health & Wellness, 222 2nd Street North, St. Petersburg. Lectures will be held every 45 minutes throughout the day on subjects such as Growing Herbs in Florida, Herb and Drug Interactions, Becoming an Herbalist, Making Herbal Medicines, cooking with Herbs and other topics.
