St. Petersburg, FL (September 7, 2010) Creative Clay will bring its mission - to make the arts accessible to all - to the masses through Folkfest St. Pete. The free three-day multi-medium festival made possible, in part, by Bank of America, brings national headlining artists the Indigo Girls, Dar Williams, and David “LEBO” LeBatard to St. Petersburg with performances October 1st through 3rd.
In addition to the extensive visual arts booths, outstanding musical line-up, food vendors and artist’s workshops, Folkfest St. Pete will feature a dynamic children’s parade led by Shana Banana and an education area sponsored by Great Explorations Children’s Museum. Activities for the whole family will include face painting, string art, design-your-own-cardboard guitar, make your own shakers and drums and a community art mural. The children’s area will also include a stage with performers such as Miss Toni and the Macaroni Band, Terrific Tots and the St. Pete Little Theater with performances by their Wacky Tales and Pizazz groups. Children from the community are invited to meet at the festival entrance (the intersection of 13th and Central) at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, October 2 to participate in a parade that will kick-off the event.
“We are very excited to host a festival filled with unique fine arts, family enriching activities, wonderful food and national touring musicians for the community,” said Grace-Anne Alfiero, Creative Clay’s Executive Director. “It presents a wonderful opportunity for the community to experience our mission at Creative Clay.”
Folkfest St. Pete is a critical fundraiser for Creative Clay and was created four years ago to build awareness of the organization’s programs that serve thousands in the community through creativity, passion and artmaking.
Folkfest St. Pete will take place Friday, October 1st, Saturday, October 2nd and Sunday, October 3rd on Central Avenue between 11th and 13th Streets, directly in front of Creative Clay, 1124 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. For more information please visit http://folkfeststpete.org.
