TAMPA BAY – July 31
Jaye Maddon, wife of former TB Ray’s manager, Joe Maddon launches nationwide “SPOXING FOR CHARITY POP-UP SERIES” in Tampa
On Saturday, Aug 15th, Tampa’s Epic Boxing & Fitness will launch a nationwide series of one-day, special fitness events, in which they will “Pop-Up” a roving version of their Hyde Park SPOXING studio in various, unique spaces around the nation. The SPOXING (spin and boxing) “Pop-Up” experience will come complete with spin cycles, heavy bags, boxing gloves, DJ and fresh foods and juices. “We want to create excitement about fitness and wellness within communities throughout the US, while raising awareness for local charities and introducing the new fitness craze, SPOXING to the nation”, says Jaye Maddon, co-owner of Epic. During the launch event, which will take place at the Epic Boxing & Fitness studio in Hyde Park, guests will partake in the invigorating new workout SPOXING! They will also enjoy complimentary massage by KLynergy MASSAGE and WELLNESS, juice and nutritional bites by SQUEEZE JUICE WORKS and WHOLE BODY FUEL, and membership and swag giveaways during each class! After the inaugural event here in Tampa, Epic will take the show on the road “popping up” one-day SPOXING studios in exciting and unexpected spaces in Chicago, NYC and Los Angeles, benefiting local charities in those cities. They will continue to host “Pop-Up” charity events, at this location, throughout the year, with ticket proceeds to benefit THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF TAMPA. Tickets are $30 per class.
SPOXING, the nation’s newest fitness craze, is a group class which uniquely combines the use of spin bikes with heavy bags and boxing gloves to burn maximum calories and challenge you physically, mentally and emotionally. The workout mirrors an actual boxing match, consisting of twelve 3-minute rounds with 30 seconds of rest in between. The spin warm up (benefiting your largest calorie burning muscle group first), combined with intense heart rate fluctuation while on and off the bag, enables Spoxers to burn up to 1000 calories per session. But the real benefit of SPOXING is how you feel about yourself afterwards. This empowering workout is as mentally challenging as it is physically, and the euphoric feeling gained after just one session will leave you feeling better about yourself than ever before. This workout is not just about taking you to the next fitness level; it’s about taking you to the next YOU LEVEL! SPOXING can easily be adapted to any level of fitness.
ABOUT JAYE MADDON: Jaye Maddon, co-owner of Epic and wife of former TB Ray’s manager, Joe Maddon, was torn last year upon receiving the news her husband would be managing the Chicago Cubs and relocating to Chicago. “I love and support my husband, but also love being a part of a strong, female-owned and operated business community here in Tampa. I have a law degree and manage four charity organizations with Joe, but creating Epic and watching how it’s positively affecting others in this community feels especially gratifying. Being married to a baseball celebrity, I don’t get the chance to spread my own wings very often. I am really proud of what we are doing here at Epic. After just one hour of SPOXINGTM your body is rejuvenated, your mind is clear and you start to realize how much life stress you’ve actually left on that punching bag!”
ABOUT ESTHER SOLANO: Esther Solano, co-owner of Epic, has created a truly unique and cutting edge work out. “I came from a pretty rough upbringing... I am a single mother and although I am a personal trainer and have the gift to inspire others, I have struggled with weight and self esteem issues my entire life. I created the SPOXINGTM workout from a place of physical and mental anguish and with it I was able to lose 120 pounds and gain a new perspective on my personal strengths and my true capabilities. The natural progression was to want to give back to the community and help others to achieve the same goals.”

Founded in 1926, the Junior League of Tampa, Inc. is an organization of over 1,800 women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.
