February 15, 2016 - Tampa, FL Former A La Carte Executive Chef Partner Jim Rice joins the Trinity Cafe team as the new Executive Chef. He brings more than 15 years of experience, knowledge and expertise that will make him a valuable addition to Trinity Cafe and their launch of a second location.
For the past eight years, Rice has managed and supported the culinary program at the multi-million-dollar venue, A La Carte Event Pavilion. With proficiency in meal planning and preparation for events up to 2,000 guests and off-site catering of 500 as well, Rice is an excellent choice to support the upcoming expansion of Trinity Cafe.
Rice's experience in quality menu creation, managing food costs, recycling and kitchen efficiency make him a great fit for the nonprofit restaurant serving the hungry and homeless. As Trinity Cafe plans to double the meals served this year, Rice will be challenged with maintaining a quality, nutritious and delicious three-course meal for 600 guests each day at approximately $2.50 per plate.
"I can't wait to see Jim's creativity with our menu and how we leverage donated food from the community and partners like Feeding Tampa Bay," said Executive Director Mandy Cloninger. In addition, Jim is well known for helping his team at A La Carte advance professionally. "Our kitchen staff, many of whom are former guests of Trinity Cafe, as well as our guests, will benefit from his mentoring and coaching."
Executive Chef Jim Rice said, "I've spent many years preparing meals for privileged diners. My mother never turned anyone in need away; her actions inspire me to provide for those who can use a helping hand. I'm excited to join Trinity Cafe. I'm looking forward to preparing and serving nutritious meals to our underprivileged guests."
