This event marks the successful end of Paul’s Project’s first year. Started as a 4th grader’s school community service project in Palm Harbor, FL, and inspired by a personal family friend, Paul’s Project now supports such hospitals as Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, All Children’s in St. Petersburg, and Tampa General in Tampa. Individual and corporate supporters, such as Publix Supermarkets Charities, American Airlines and Dimmitt Chevrolet, have recognized the niche that this organization serves.
Paul’s Project was founded by Paul Doussan, now age 11, with the help of his family and The Gliddon Family. In 2008, a 4th grade class assignment to create and implement a community service project of Paul’s choice created the opportunity. At that time, Karen and Mat Gliddon had just lost their 5-year-old son Mathew to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
As Paul’s family went through this awful, life-altering experience with their close friends, an unmet need was clearly identified. Parents of critically ill children often leave home urgently to take their children to the hospital, often spending days at their child’s side with little thought to their own needs.
Soon, Paul’s Project was born. The organization’s first donation of 30 care packages – in Ziploc bags with happy faces and the words “We Care” carefully inscribed on their face by Paul – was donated to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando, FL. Since then, the group has delivered more than more than 200 such packages to parents in need.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Paul’s Project is a Florida non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to enlightening the community to the urgency and importance of supporting families of critically ill children. With the unique knowledge gained from families served and networking, Paul's Project is creating infrastructure to significantly increase the number of people helped, which exceeds more than 200 families to date. The organization relies on donations to create and deliver its signature Parent Accessory Care Kits (“Paul’s PACKs”). These PACKs are filled with comfort items to send to local hospitals for parents who suddenly find themselves in the hospital with their children. As the word spreads about the organization and additional contributors lend their financial and in-kind donations, so does the usefulness and adaptability of Paul’s PACKs . Paul’s Project’s strives to expand its services to children’s hospitals throughout the state of Florida, presently serving Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital (Orlando), All Children’s Hospital (St. Petersburg) and Tampa General (Tampa).
