The Greater Palm Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce celebrates its prestigious Bill and Louise Hoskins 36th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival with the addition of “The Next Great Palm Harbor Art Challenge” to be held from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM on December 4th and from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM on December 5th, Old Downtown Palm Harbor, Florida Avenue between Alt. 19 and Omaha..
All aspiring new artists from Carwise and Palm Harbor Middle Schools and East Lake and Palm Harbor University High Schools are invited to join the challenge. Student applications may be available at your schools or can be obtained at the Palm Harbor Chamber. Please call 727-784-4287.
The art will be created from books donated by The Palm Harbor Library in honor of Earth Day to encourage recycling. Palm Harbor Library will be open on Saturday, October 2nd from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM for student artists to select the donated books they want to use for their art project. Winning entries will be exhibited from the completion of the Palm Harbor festival until Earth Day. Some of the locations to exhibit the art will be Leepa Rattner Museum of Art and The Palm Harbor Library.
School entries will be juried by a prestigious panel of local art professionals that include Lynn Whitelaw, Distinguished Director, Leepa Rattner Museum of Art, Rocky Bridges and Don Naumann, award winning local artists who regularly participate in our Palm Harbor Fine Arts and Crafts Festival. The winning artists from the Palm Harbor Chamber’s 36th Annual Fine Arts and Crafts Festival will judge the art of the aspiring artists. Seven winning entries (one for each grade level) will be selected and The Best of Show will receive a $250 cash award and the title of “Palm Harbor’s Next Great Artist”. There are no fees for student art entries.
Sponsors for this extraordinary opportunity are invited. Sponsor inquiries and locations wanting to exhibit the student art are encouraged to contact the Palm Harbor Chamber at 727-784-4287.
