TAMPA, FL, April 21, 2016 – Coming May 15 - 19, a bus brimming with Florida’s top tech talent will race from Tampa to Boulder, Colo., to compete in the seventh annual StartupBus North America competition. The “buspreneurs” have a seemingly impossible 72 hours at 70 mph to design, build, and launch working technology before pitching their efforts to an all-star judging panel, as part of Techstars’ Boulder Startup Week event.
Florida will be competing against six other regions from across the continent. All buses are comprised of an optimized mix of Hackers (Developer/Maker), Hipsters (Designer/UX), and Hustlers (Biz Dev/Marketing). New this year, each bus carries a theme guiding the technology built on them, making it the first interdisciplinary event of its kind.
Florida has elected to focus on building technology to improve the Food & Beverage industry. “This is an industry ripe for innovation. I’m excited to help our participants develop tech that can have a huge impact on our state and local economies,” says Justin Davis, Co-Conductor of StartupBus Florida and founder of Madera Labs, a UX/UI design firm in the Tampa Bay Area.
“Our goal is to bring together the best and brightest individuals and companies to work on solutions for this vertical. That’s why we put participants through a thorough interview process before putting the pedal to the metal,” continues Ashley Mooney, StartupBus Florida, Co-Conductor.
To participate, you need an invite code to apply. A code can be requested via Twitter https://twitter.com/StartupBusFL or through a StartupBus community member (there’s 1,000+ worldwide).
Equal parts hackathon, road trip, and global community, StartupBus challenges top-tier talent to hop on a bus to conceive, build, and launch a startup in three days under impossible constraints. It is a bootcamp-on-wheels that fast forwards lives and careers; inspiring creators of the next generation of technology companies. These competitions are epic, but the ultimate goal is to build the largest network of tested entrepreneurs on the planet, with unprecedented access to a diverse pool of talent, ideas, and resources.
StartupBus has built a global community of vetted tech talent through unique events in North America, Europe, Africa, and Australia since 2010. The mission of StartupBus is to accelerate lives by supporting those that disrupt the status quo and make a better world for us all. StartupBus is a global community and places great emphasis on diversity; not “brogrammer” attitudes. Alumni go on to live, work, and play together based on common respect. They have cofounded companies that have raised millions in funding and are worth many more times that.
Currently, interested applicants need an invite code to apply. You can request an invite here or through a StartupBus community member (there’s 1,000+ worldwide).
